Trajectory Analysis and Bullet Reconstruction – This two-day course will introduce participants to current best practices regarding documenting, describing and reconstructing the flight path of bullets (projectiles) and provide clear insights into what might be learned on a scene involving a shooting. Analysis of shell casings, bullet evidence and trajectory can often provide immediate investigative leads while still on scene. Participants will learn basic information about what can be determined when using laser and conventional trajectory equipment as well as current capabilities and limitations of the lab analysis later. Local and national case studies will be included. Successful techniques to extract bullets, collect evidence, and document bullet holes effectively will be discussed alongside of several hands-on activities.
